About JFLL -
Created in partnership with the LEGO Group, Junior FIRST LEGO League (JFLL) is geared to children aged 6 to 9 years old and utilizes a modified FIRST LEGO League (FLL) framework. Teams of up to 6 children and an adult mentor receive a mini challenge, based on the annual FLL research project. Using an open-ended LEGO building set, they will design a model depicting an aspect of this year’s "Power Puzzle" Challenge. Children will spend approximately one month exploring, investigating, designing and building a model made with LEGO bricks. In conjunction, teams create a "Show Me" poster that depicts the teams’ experience during this process, through drawings and words.

JFLL NC Tournament Update (10/17/2007)
Announcement:
In answer to the many questions being asked:
1. Yes, there is a JFLL exhibition
2. No, your JFLL team is not automatically registered when you registered your FLL team for the NC tournament.
3. We have received the official list of JFLL teams from FIRST, coaches can expect an email soon.
Tentatively, set up will begin around 7:30 a.m. Each JFLL team will have a 5' table on which to place their display board and Lego creation. Interviews will start at 9:30, after opening ceremonies. An interviewer will spend 5-10 minutes with each team.
The focus is on the children, getting them to talk about their projects and JFLL season, so we are not timing these interviews. We do not score projects, nor are we going to measure to make sure all displays are 15"x 15"! But, do try to keep it close to that size.
We want to make the exhibition a relaxed, low stress event for the children, coaches, parents and interviewers. If you feel your team isn't following or completing everything as specified in the JFLL coaches' guide, don't worry Enjoy your team this season and bring whatever they create to the exhibition!
While we are on a schedule, a JFLL exhibition is designed to encourage a fun, sharing environment during the exhibition. The goal is to get the children excited about science, technology and, hopefully, jazzed about joining an FLL team!
There will be a JFLL awards ceremony sometime around 12:30 ish. Now that tournament registration is closed, and we have the final numbers, we can begin firming up the exact tournament schedule, so please recognize that times specified in this email are NOT FIRM.
Fun awards will be given out, and each team will receive an award.
